Cecil Jones College is able to provide you with a number of exciting new initiatives that are aimed at creating a culture of wellbeing where every student feels safe, secure and connected. These initiatives include:

1-1 counselling

group therapy

restorative conferencing

peer mediation

bully proofing

There is opportunity for a student led Health committee with two elected representatives from each tutor group meeting once weekly with the counsellor. These meetings would give students a forum where they can take ownership of their school. As well as providing leadership opportunities the health committee  would take responsibility for analysing the current health status of our school - what are we currently doing well? - where do we want to be and how are we going to get there?

peer mediators who are usually members of the Health Committee are trained in communication skills, particularly active listerning. They have a clear prescription which they follow through each mediation process. They remain impartial and objective and a set of guidelines including a confidentiality aggreement is central to the mediation process. Following resolution a contract is signed by both parties as well as the peer mediator and they are asked to tell their friends that the problem has been resolved. This stops the rumouring and innuendo that could continue to feed and escalatre the conflict between the parties
