GCSE Performing Arts: Dance focuses on the aesthetic and artistic qualities of dance, using movement as a medium of expression and communication.

The course enables candidates to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding of creating and interpreting the images and ideas within dance.  Emphasis throughout the study period will focus on how movement can be formed to communicate and/or evoke a response.  Candidates need to demonstrate the potential to engage in a study of dance that is broadly based, some (though not necessarily formal) dance experience and a basic knowledge of dance composition and choreography.
